On July 1, 1863, John Fulton Reynolds, Union general-major, died in battle at age 42.
John Fulton Reynolds (September 20, 1820 – July 1, 1863)[1] was a career United States Army officer and a general in the American Civil War. One of the Union Army's most respected senior commanders, he played a key role in committing the Army of the Potomac to the Battle of Gettysburg and was killed at the start of the battle.

Very interesting and informative article on Union General John F. Reynolds.
I was really interested in learning about the civil war when I was a young boy
and read every book about the war I could get my hands on to gain knowledge.

SPC Woody Bullard I don't think so. Most of my family is originally from Virginia. My great, great, great grandparents and family were living on the Mississippi River in Alton, Illinois in the 1820's eventually settling in Missouri. I did have two great great grandfathers in the Civil War on the Northern side.
