I wrote a huge story about it to Post here But never took the time to type it out. It was the Forgotten Battle that actually was way more important than some of the better known battles.

That is interesting SGT John " Mac " McConnell. Very few Japanese surrendered to allied forces during the course of the war. From the caption I expected this to be VJ Day not the liberation of the Philippines where a few japanese Coast watchers held out for decades afterwards.
