The Marine Corps has been making Marines for a very long time and pretty successfully. They last thing they need is a bunch of concerned softees showing up to make things better for recruits. There is nothing that happens on Parris Island or San Diego that will be nearly as bad as combat. It is intended to be hard to separate the wheat from the chaff. If you don't want to be a Marine, join the Army or the Navy or the Air Force.

I cannot speak for everyone but being slapped, hit, kicked, stomped, ridiculed, challenged, and generally made to feel worthless was part of the process. That is not how you felt at the end though. At the end you knew you earned it. That is what makes the difference.

I know these days everyone is special and no one wants their feelings hurt or to be pushed beyond what they though they could handle. The Drill Instructors job is to turn out Marines that can handle the stresses of combat and difficult circumstances. If you want more PTSD just keep lowering the mental toughness required to make it and you will have it in spades.

The hazing wasn't from fellow recruits, though, it was from the shit show of asshole DIs with enormous chips on their shoulders. When a new LtCol came in and started firing the DIs who were hazing, he got fired because the morale in his unit dropped... which might be the dumbest thing I've ever read. The Marine Corps deserves a good dick-slapping for being so stupid in this case.

You're correct LCDR (Join to see). I misread the first of the story. I can't understand why those DI's would even think about coming to work drunk. Putting a troop in a dryer and turning it on? Then he falls 40 feet. This was nothing less than discrimination. The three DI's should go to prison. As far as slapping their PeePee, I'll leave that to another DI, since they like to Dick around so much.
