Coalition forces continue to seek out and hit financial institutions and holding sites of ISIL finances. Those that are helping to launder ISIL finances are particularly high on the list. ISIL uses zakat "a form of religious taxation equaling 2.5% of the value of the product or the wealth of the person" taxing those who live, operate, do business, or travel through their territories making them different from other organizations in that they do not need donations to maintain their status. Estimates have ISIL earnings from taxation as high as those from oil. To give an idea of how much this is, the estimate for earnings from oil for ISIL are $80 million per month.
Coalition forces continuing efforts to bomb and raid the sources (oil fields and trucks) and storage facilities (cash houses and banks) however has put a huge dent in their finances, which has led to salary cuts and in some cases entire units not being paid which has affected their morale and unit integrity. Infighting is said to be on the increase in their units and among their civil employees.
