Have you ever wondered what would happen if the Cold War didn’t stay cold? Rising tensions between the United States and Russia have renewed fears about the possibility of nuclear warfare. The two countries combined have 93% of the world’s nuclear weapons, with Russia boasting the most powerful weapon the world has ever known: the Tsar Bomba.
The bomb was 57 Megatons of power. Though it’s hard to imagine the scale of destruction that such a bomb would create, the fact that it’s 1,400 times more powerful than Hiroshima and Nagasaki combined is clearly a harrowing prospect.

Always remember to this day years ago when we were kids, and the school held a 'bomb drill', we would go into the halls and hunker down next to the lockers. Did officials even in those early days actually believe that would save any life, or were they just playing make-believe to give the public false confidence? Wondered in later years if the kids in Nagasaki and Hiroshima had practiced the same drills any of them would have been saved.

Capt Tom Brown, I remember our drills, and a siren would go off. We had to hunker under our desks. Even, as an elementary student, I knew that wasn't going to do us any good. But, that was the umb procedure.

SGT (Join to see) - Right I don't think those drills fooled anyone even we youngsters once we looked at those bomb diagrams. We used to look and see which blast radius we lived inside.

Capt Tom Brown - We were told in case if a bomb was dropped on us. I would look at the glass windows folded out for fresh air, and knew this was BS. I didn't say BS back then, but I did think it was stupid.

I grew up on Ft Knox. Totally safe. Nobody would bomb most of the gold in the US. HA!

I did this over LA and it said the total US IQ scores went up by 13 points. Tofu consumption went down by 70% and the 1st and 2nd Amendments were equal again.

I did this over our ship channel which has hundreds of refineries and chemical plants, using the 100Mt bomb from the USSR. The total estimated deaths would be 428,000 and the total estimated 3rd degree burn injuries would be 1.3 million. The distance from our ship channel, with total radiation would extend to, Pasadena,Texas, Galveston,Texas, Sugarlnd, Texas, Beaumont,Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Memphis, Tennessee. There is always talk around here how much damage would be done by a Nuke into our ship channel, and now I know the approximate amount, with using this bomb.
