Respectfully, I don't agree with your limited comment. Why? I understand the angst many have with the ALA, especially parents. Too many librarians in many schools have gone too far. It would be fine to provide books of a clinical-like explanation about sexuality. Many however, marching to the ALA drum eat, provide books of an overtly, and graphic pornographic nature. Just look at YouTube for parents and ministers reading excerpts from some of the books. I'm amazed that some librarians and/or school boards haven't been charged wit distribution of pornography to minors. They hide behind the 1st Amendment; but how is graphic porn for children even remotely acceptable? For college age adults, I don't like it either, but they are adults or at least pretty much on their own. PARENTS should school their MINOR children on sex or religious topics; not librarians or teachers.
The nearby university (Slippery Rock), before gaining status as a university, was known merely as a teacher's and librarian's college. While more courses are offered now, it has always been known for being increasingly liberal. The campus today is overtly FOCUSED on alternative lifestyles as much as scholarly achievements. Maybe that's the problem with many of the so-called institutions of "higher learning." They've seemingly become like indoctrination centers with an emphasis for gratds to indoctrinate everyone in their lives. Even corporations have joined in with diversity officers who remind me of Gestapo-like mentality for reporting and punishing anyone who disagrees with principles of DEI. Hell, even the military is Dei focused instead of MERIT focused.
I rest my case. LOL
