People are great at polluting the world like fracking and introducing new pesticides. Australia is planning to dump 1 million tons on the great barrier reef. Much of our drinking water in the US is dangerous to drink. What we thought was infinite is now understood as finite.

Drinking water supplies in the United States are among the safest in the world. However, even in the U.S., drinking water sources can become contaminated, causing sickness and disease from waterborne germs, such as Cryptosporidium, E. coli, Hepatitis A, Giardia intestinalis, and other pathogens. Up to 15% of drinking water in the US comes from private wells and other non-government sources, and of course, safety for thse sources are the responsibility of the owner of the supply. The vast majority of drinking water in the US is safe. See EPA and CDC sites.
