I'm in the same boat. I don't care for rap or hip hop or whatever they want to call it. The Music Man might have been the first, and 2 Live Crew was the end for me. Love music and a unique voice. I guess I'm old.

I have found songs to appreciate and songs to deride in every single genre out there. Except screamo. I haven't listened to enough of it (it is physically painful to listen to, at least for me) to find anything worthwhile.
Some genres I find more I appreciate, so I tend to listen to those more often. But I refuse to say any particular genre is good or bad. Because none of them are either without merit or without flaws.

I agree! I love music with lyrics that make me feel good and happy! I heard a famous singer, recently say, "You never feel depressed when you listen to the Beach Boys music!"
