Learned something about my tomatoes. It did not occur to me that growing them in a pot would require calcium, because our soil doesn't need it. The potting soil probably does need it.

SGT Mary G. If you don't have enough lime in your soil you will get blossom end rot. (The bottom of the tomato rots out and turns black) We learned that the hard way one year but it still takes about six months for the lime to take hold in the soil and change the pH. You can buy a spray to put on the leaves that will help this if this occurs.

Cpl Vic Burk - Had only two tomatoes that were black at the bottom, only on the outside. Don't know it it was from lack of calcium, or ovewatering.
I think I will add some lime, and from what you say, it is around about the right time to add it for the soil to be ready in Spring.

SGT Mary G. - Yes, this is the idea time to add the lime. By next spring it will have made the pH change to make a better crop. Those two tomatoes this year will turn into many more next year without lime.
