In Germany they had posts that could lower underground for traffic and then raise to block off streets for walkers during festivals. We may need them here.

We do have them here in some cities. I know a few cities here in the Dallas/Fort Worth area that use these almost daily.

New architecture is a grand move and very expensive. Remember, terrorists have been trained in our universities. Who are the architects, really?

Nothing new. I took a CPTED course at Eastern Kentucky Univ back in the late 90's teaching this very concept. The same principle can and has been applied to combat terrorism. It can be cost prohibitive to existing infrastructure so it becomes a question of priorities. Hopefully, it will catch on. Good info.
