How hard is it to get an intelligence wiretap? Pretty hard.

Not as hard as you think. Ask James Rosen and is parents. You might want to read up on that before jumping to any conclusions about it. Rosen is a journalist with an unnamed source in a story. The Obama DOJ didn't like it and went after him, wiretaps and all. He was a journalist doing his job.

"The law bars targeted electronic surveillance on U.S. soil unless the government can show that the target was a foreign power or an agent of a foreign power, and that the "facility" - the phone number or email address in question - is being used by the foreign power or agent."
Trump being in business with Russia wasn't enough warrant a wiretap.
Also, if any information was imparted, it wasn't because Trump's phones were tapped. It was because the Russian officials, who oddly enough KNEW their phones were tapped, were talking to Trump. So, it appears Trump just outed himself

SSG Michael Hartsfield - I think the Russians assume we are listening to every phone conversation they have with anyone in the US. They know it because it is established as a standard. That is why the NSA exists, in part.
I am not sure how Trump was outed. The Senate Intel committee has said there has been zero evidence presented to them on an inappropriate connection to the Russians. Keep in mind, they can talk with them as the incoming administration. There is nothing illegal about that. The nature of the conversations needs to be narrow/focused.

SSG Michael Hartsfield - Unfortunately the law was sinpky a tool to use against his enemies. Like the IRS.

Quite a discussion. I feel the need to point out that the practice of appointing judges based upon political positions rather than judicial excellence has weakened the system of checks and balance. And of, course that Obama often said he had a phone and an pen.
President wants a wiretap? It will probably happen.
