House panel votes to make it harder for retired generals to run the Pentagon

We could get rid of half of the General Officers and still have twice what we need.

That is an absurd idea! The House Armed Services Committee might vote that way, but it should never get off the ground from the Floor of the House. In essence they are saying that honorable and career service in the Armed Forces is somehow a disqualification for service to the nation as a Cabinet Secretary (George Washington would be rolling over in his grave). Perhaps we should examine the credentials of the committee members instead!
