Once the herd decided to lock their states down, no amount of science or evidence was going to change that.
Why?
Because politicians are unabashed cowards. No one wanted to be first. No one wanted to be different.
And lo and behold, once Texas starts reopening, shortly thereafter all 50 states are reopening in some form. I loath political cowardice, and I will remember all of this in November.

I think it is time to open a lot of things up, particularly in lower density areas. Some targeted areas where there are still problems probably need a slower approach. We can keep the social distancing in public, generally staying away from others and working at home if we can, but letting things slowly open.

Since it got out of control the goal has mostly been about not overwhelming the health care system and buying some time to get our sh!t together. We've made progress and should now take a location by location approach.

We still need a lot of testing, a better system than we currently have, so a particular region knows if and when to change its approach.

The Ethics of Wearing (or Not Wearing) a Face Mask During the Coronavirus Pandemic. The mask can be extremely effective at protecting the wearer from being infected by others, as well as protecting others from being infected by the wearer. The term for coronavirus, which is a "family" or "group" of viruses. Coronavirus is a generic term for several types of viruses. It's like saying, "I love music" and there are many different types of music (rock, country, blues, classical, etc). SARS-CoV-2 is a virus that causes COVID-19.

To my knowledge, I don't know of a way that would be possible to have the COVID-19 disease without first having contracted the SARS-CoV-2 virus. In the same way, you cannot get AIDS (disease) without having the virus (HIV) that causes it. Having the virus does not mean you will get the disease. But, having the disease most definitely means you have the virus.

Quarantines are meant to restrict the movement of people who may have been exposed to the contagious disease but haven’t tested positive. The concept of quarantine isn’t new. Even as the bubonic plague rolled through Europe in the 17th century, at least one village instituted a quarantine, which ultimately saved neighboring villages.

SSG Robert Webster - I wanted to start an open discussion regarding the wearing of a protective mask due to COVID-19. Pros and cons, right or wrong, etc.
