MGySgt (Join to see) - I read the report. The assumptions built on assumptions arising out of insecure civilian practices make it appear the authors know nothing of which they speak. Warmest Regards, Sandy :)

I tend to agree, however after being retired for over 20 years, I am not really up to date on current tech for hacking. We sure were careful about what could be done when I retired and this would not have been possible then by any means. I have to believe Navy anti hacking is up to speed.

Everyone thinks they are an expert. Like the commercial says "if it's on the internet it must be true". This cyber threat is a no shirter none the less.

While I agree with your assessment of the report, there is still plenty validity to the threat. It's a pretty unlikely target as there are others that are easier to get to that can create a devastating effect without creating Judgement Day, but the possibility is still there and thought the idea of it pretty interesting. Thanks for responding!

Not that I know any of this, but doesn't salt water *not* allow electromagnetic waves to pass through it? If so, how would anyone hack a sub without being inside it?

Were that true, would a projectile not make it to the surface? It's happened. I don't know the particulars and this wouldn't be the medium in which to have said discussion, but there is a good reason this was written.

I'm guessing - though I don't know - that projectiles leaving subs use AI to get to the surface, and GPS and electronics to guide it after that. Clearly I'm just speculating.
