Florida passed a law banning greyhound racing on Tuesday and this means thousands of dogs will need new homes in the coming years. I have two rescued greyhounds living down the street and they are the nicest dogs you can imagine. If you're thinking about a large breed dog that is also a great family dog consider contacting one of the greyhound rescue organizations in Florida. Please pass this information on to anyone thinking about getting a dog.

While I was surprised the 'ban' actually passed, I hope these dogs find a good place to live out the rest of their lives.

Fortunately the rescue organizations do a good job, but the massive amount of animals between now and 2020 when the ban kicks in is a challenge. Plus there's no idea on when owners will decide to hang it up and get rid of their dogs.
