The media didn't politicize this, Trump did, by bringing Obama into the conversation for no reason.

Note to POTUS - next time go to Dover instead of playing golf. Actions speak louder than words. Do it as discreetly as possible, or you'll be accused of grandstanding. The word will get out and so will the pictures. You'll get a different outcome and won't have to say anything more, other than acknowledging their deaths and offering condolences. All the rest is he said she said, Obama did it this or didn't do that. I have to wonder if anyone advised him to go to Dover i.e. Pence, Kelly, Mattis, McMaster. If not, why not? He's not a politician or military so it's their job if they care. If so, and he declined, maybe he'll learn from it for next time. It didn't play out well, with a lot of help from media, and was mostly avoidable if handled right. Maybe he'll eventually figure it out.

This gold star father wasn't there, didn't hear the words, and hasn't spoken to the widow. He is simply stating his opinion based on his own experience. So you probably shouldn't assume that he is right and the widow, who had the conversation, is the one who mistook anything.

Since I wasn't there I don't know. The Congresswoman may have had a motive to fabricate but I can't see where the widow did. After watching her holding his casket for so long today, it's obvious she is deeply in grief. We'll never know what was said so I'm unable to say either way. Based on the past I believe he said it, but also recognize other factors such as grief, context, and politics with regard to the Congresswoman. I appreciate the input of the Gold Star father and am sorry for his loss. His statement is just an opinion though.

SFC Kelly Fuerhoff - I noted that. The MOC was fairly vocal about it. As a disinterested party, solely basing an opinion on his track record without knowing hers, I'd have no problem believing what was said. She said the Widow broke down after the call, but it was likely an emotional time overall. We'll never know the inflection and general tone without actually hearing it. Maybe he'll improve over time in the role of Comforter in Chief, but seems to have encountered issues with Mrs. Johnson.

SFC Kelly Fuerhoff - Agreed. If you get the chance see what COS Kelly said about it at today's WH presser. He does a good job of talking through the process from battlefield to burial. I have mixed feelings about whether Cong. Wilson should have discussed a private conversation between Mrs. Johnson and POTUS. I tend to agree with him when he advised Trump not to make the calls, as is being reported. He has some issues with delivery and we now see the results.
