I'm happy for a WWI hero being honored, but changing the name is kind of a slap in the face of the hundreds of thousands of soldiers who went into combat from Ft Polk.

Thank you my friend SSG(P) (Join to see) for letting us know that Fort Polk has been renamed for Black US soldier Sgt. William Henry Johnson who during World War I fought off about two dozen Germans alone, killing at least four.
It is interesting that the campaign to rename US posts and national guard posts from honoring CSA officers to honoring others. As history may well repeat itself in the coming decades, those honored and dishonored may well be reversed or additional insults for the dead.
