Whether those of us here think it is warranted ... or don't ... is irrelevant to the price of apples in Peoria. GWB deserves the Sylvanus Thayer Award a bushel and a peck more than Obama deserved the Nobel Peace Prize ... and the Norwegian Nobel Committee paid about as much attention to my view of that as West Point is going to give to our disparate views on recipients of the Sylvanus Thayer Award. That is to say ... none. GWB has repeatedly shown his respect and liking for our military men and women, both while in office and out of it ... and in my experience, that respect and liking is reciprocated. It will be a good day at West Point when he receives the award.

We got one in 2002 so I guess a former president is entitled.

Say what you want about his presidency, but as a human being he is a good man. His administration was hurt by Cheney and Rumsfeld. Those two guys had been a political force in DC since the 60s and they used that to pull off a lot of the stuff that W gets crap for, including Iraq.

When it comes to veterans specifically, you can see the sincerity when he speaks. I think he's a good man that caught a bad rap because of other people.
