This is an obvious case of insanity. The horror recalls that incident of Charles Whitman, who slipped slowly down from a Marine Corps college scholarship to the murder of his wife and mother, then the shooting of strangers from the Texas Tower.
He asked that his brain be examined after his death, to perhaps explain what had happened to him. The autopsy revealed a brain tumor.
