I sponsor two students at the Naval Academy Preparatory School here in Newport, Rhode Island, one football player and one cheerleader and track star. Last year I sponsored three students who were also football player. They must have me confused with someone else as I know noting about football! But nevertheless I watch a full game today and even though I didnt really understand the game itself besides the basics, I enjoyed it. Navy beat Bridgton Academy 48-13. For a while there I thought it was going to be a slaughter of the other teams but they came through with a couple touchdowns. The students whom I have sponsored are fine young men and women and I'm proud of them. I wish I had their brains when i was 17 and quit high school to join the Army.

SN Greg Wright thanks Greg. You know there is a couple reasons I do this. One I have always given back in one way or another, cub and boy scouts, soccer, little league, fire department and others. I also really admire these kids. While I have a Masters level education now, I hardly went to high school and wound up quitting on my 17th birthday, having just started 11th grade to join the Army. As you said, they are our future leaders and I want to see them do well.

A pic which I could not get into the original link. Every time NAPS made a touchdown the whole battalion got down and did pushups corresponding to the current score. Was a lot of fun!
