I'm fine with this. Infantry, Ranger and Special Forces would be in a world of hurt without all the support troops. So why not recognize experts in other fields as well? Perhaps what they really need is an expert badge for each branch of the Army.

I suppose. Though I personally feel that ALL Combat arms MOS's should have their own expert badges and combat badges as well. Armor has a Combat Tanker Badge design that was approved by Congress but that's as far as they would get involved and proves that the Infantry mafia run things as old Armor officers, like BB Bell, stated it's a Have and Have Nots. One would've thought that Tankers have proven their metal in direct combat since WW2. In Vietnam, US Armor Advisers to the South Vietnamese tanker were authorized to wear the SV tanker badge.
For way too many years the Armor branch as been treated like red headed step-child's. We have the TCCT II test, TCGST testing that could be better utilized to qualify enlisted Armor Soldiers a Expert Armor Badge then if qualified for the Combat Armor Badge.
