My Wife was livid I bought a car battery in October for my 2015 Dodge but I knew batteries do not last past 4 years. I am glad I did because we were the top 15 coldest places on earth for some of this week and I knew my car would not start if I had my old battery. I saw a rash of cars being jumped by AAA or others good samaritans.

Looks like what I remember of the winter of 1970-71 in Ottawa. I recall that some of the storms in Feb dumped up to 36 inches of snow, and by the end of winter nearly 200 inches of snow had fallen. In Feb temps of -40 F. (windchill -100 F. occurred, and if one didn't have a block heater one was screwed. Lots of people had electric battery blankets, too, to keep them from freezing. The city was pretty efficient at removing snow from the major streets (not so much from the neighborhoods - usually just two ruts down the middle of the street) - it went to rural dumping grounds where in June we could still dig down and find snow for snowball fights. This storm in the Maritimes sounds like the one that hit Buffalo NY back in the 1970s.
