I saw the video as well. I didn't look for it, it found me. He is correct in how calm and methodical the shooter was. The first thing that struck me is how much it looked like the video games many play these days (call of duty etc.). He had mounted his camera to create that effect I think.

I do not know how anyone reaches that point. He shot defenseless people cowering in fear who had no hope for escape. He shot them again and again. When I see this, I think if a few of those people were armed/carrying, that might have ended far differently. His weapon of choice gave him no real advantage inside the mosque, it was all very close quarters. A pistol would have been very effective against him.

It is evil, it is a lack of any sort of compassion for people. It seems by those he targeted and some of the rhetoric in his manifesto, he was out to kill Muslims. I disagree with Whittle a little bit in that I think our callousness in society, our embrace of violence in music, movies, television etc., does have an effect on young minds that are already troubled.

I agree wholeheartedly about the desensitizing of our children has led to these outcomes.

I think we need to completely get rid of these violent video games once and for all.

And there are other ways to look at it. Hopefully, we will learn to have respectful conversations in the pursuit of solutions to the issues that cause these kinds of tragedies.

CPT Jack Durish Will any of those conversations ever be convincing enough to make you say that military style assault weapons do not belong in civilian hands?
