SPC Jeff Daley, PhD I wonder how much the Biden crime family got in kickbacks for this deal. More proof that Biden doesn't have the best interest of the United States in his agenda but what does he care? He won't be around much longer anyways.

We are committing suicide motivated by fear and fear alone. I am now prepared to respond to the question at the end of our national anthem. Does that star-spangled banner yet wave over the land of the free and the home of the brave? No, and I am ashamed to admit it.

Biden is an idiot, China is currently building around 80 new coal fired power plants and has another 25 in the planning stages.

SSG (Join to see) Frankly I can't see the problem with using price of energy to force older plants to either upgrade or close down. Sure there is community uproar when plants close, but that's always been the price of progress.

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen - I find that very callous almost 1000 people lost their jobs and that plant was the only plant in the U.S. that could produce air craft grade aluminum. Most smelters in the U.S. use a different process which does not allow them to produce the required 98.5% purity.

SSG (Join to see) I understand that, and coming from New England I've been through it just as much as the area where you are but facts are facts. Aren't we still building airplanes? Obviously it wasn't the ONLY plant that could produce aircraft grade aluminum.
I lost many friends when the cotton processing mills around me closed in the 50s, but employees then were given the option to move to the new modern plants in the South. Not sure if that's happening these days.

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen - No I am afraid they are importing it, but said grade of aluminum was used in military jets specifically. Plus it not like the technology is outdated, there are only three types of smelters in the world for producing aluminum. They also have a plant in Iceland but electricity is cheap there, plenty of geothermal power and one in South Carolina but it has a power contract with a local utility.
