I met Jose at Beale AFB. If I remember correctly he did not have any tattoo's at the time. At least not on his arms.

SrA Jay Strauser The article has a few photos of tattoos and mentioned he wears gang related tatts from his previous life. I don't mention it to cast any doubt on his quality, but rather to raise the question of our own tattoo policies. Maybe there are more men of this quality denied enlistment now due to the rules... or maybe its a cost-benefit thing. The number of gangsters we keep out at the cost of those who would really turn their lives around..

He spoke to our class during NCOA, and had an amazing story. Every conversation I have ever had with him left me tingling... he is the true picture of what a CMSgt should be.

I had the pleasure of working with him when he was an Airman at his first assignment. We were both stationed at Beale AFB. We hung out and worked together for a while. We ride around in his 64 Impala. Wonder if he still has that?
