In every war beginning with the American Civil War, the US has won because of its superior ability to rapidly adapt, innovate, and most importantly, vastly outproduce weapons, ammunition, and all manner of war equipment and material than any adversary. In recent times, our manufacturing base has been gutted by outsourcing. In many instances, we no longer have the ability to produce the most critical components of warplanes, warships, and sophisticated weapons systems. Can we continue to dominate conflicts through adaptation and innovation alone?
