Could HERMEUS turn the hypersonic arms race on its head?

Mach 5+ plus maneuverability makes a hypersonic weapon system almost impossible to defeat. Hermes is taking advantage of the latest in 3D printing technology to innovate and create a reusable hypersonic system that uses mostly off the shelf parts and current tech. Instead of more exotic and expensive scramjet tech, they are using more affordable AND proven ramjet technology which limits top speed to about Mach 6 but when you combine that with maneuverability you have something that will counter defenses and survive to complete the mission.
