Maj John Bell You got that right. I work for Lincoln and we supply grease pumps and stuff to John Deere and Caterpillar and my responsibility is with the mining guys. They are hurting so bad. Business with CAT has been cut in half over the last year and its all because of Obama and the EPA and HRC plans on doing the same thing. Since I have been here CAT has laid off 10,000 workers. That's 10,000 good paying jobs to nothing, yet the unions continue to back the Democrats when its the Democrats that have cost them 10,000 union jobs. I just don't understand that.

PO2 Mark Saffell - I have to tread lightly here. I believe that unions served great purposes in the past and that they have a role now. But at the national level, I believe they are out of touch with union membership. Why would I pay dues to a union that supports left of center candidates when I am a right of center voter. I would never work in a union environment if the union extended outside the shop I work at, strictly for that reason. Every union member I know in very pro-union northern Michigan is not happy about where the political contributions of the union go.

Maj John Bell I have been union and non union at the same company. My dad also worked there. It was McDonnell Douglas in the 80's. I once asked my dad why he votes Democrat and he said because they are for the unions. I quickly reminded him that he works for one of the top Aerospace and Defense companies in the world and Democrats always cut defense spending. He thought for a minute and never voted democrat again.
