Wow! And this isn't one of those guys that jumped straight from high school. He spent four years in college getting a "higher education," at University of Tulsa and University of Missouri.

He likely learned that in a class on origins/evolution. The class where everything is made up and the grades don't matter.

1SG (Join to see) - Mark, I have studied up on evolution an the theories and evidence. I accepted evolution for many years of my life until I spent more time looking at the evidence. It is pretty scant. We are not talking about mild mutations like an insect becomes resistant to some insecticides. We are talking about species A evolves into species B,C and D etc. over the course of some time.
I don't think the word theory means what you seem to think it means. A theory is an explanation that CAN contain (not does contain) facts, laws and tested hypothesis etc.

I asked you for the evidence the proves evolution and as usual the evolutionist has deflected and asked me to prove it is not true. It is your theory, put up the evidence. We both know it is not there. Science accepts the theory of willingly because it defies a creator which science abhors.

Science uses specialized terms that have different meanings than everyday usage. These definitions correspond to the way scientists typically use these terms in the context of their work. Note, especially, that the meaning of “theory” in science is different than the meaning of “theory” in everyday conversation.
•Fact: In science, an observation that has been repeatedly confirmed and for all practical purposes is accepted as “true.” Truth in science, however, is never final and what is accepted as a fact today may be modified or even discarded tomorrow.
•Hypothesis: A tentative statement about the natural world leading to deductions that can be tested. If the deductions are verified, the hypothesis is provisionally corroborated. If the deductions are incorrect, the original hypothesis is proved false and must be abandoned or modified. Hypotheses can be used to build more complex inferences and explanations.
•Law: A descriptive generalization about how some aspect of the natural world behaves under stated circumstances.
•Theory: In science, a well-substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world that can incorporate facts, laws, inferences, and tested hypotheses.

SPC David Willis - David, gravity is not a theory, it is a law. Refer to the definition of a law in my post above. Relativity is a theory that really cannot be tested because instruments can neither see nor measure space-time.

Your cousins theory is a conspiracy theory with no real evidence at all. If you are going to get in the deep end, at least make sure you can swim and make some apples to apples comparisons and know the basic difference between laws and theories.

Cpl Jeff N. - Sure its a law now but it started off as a theory. The theory of relativity is generally accepted even though it cant be measured. I was pointing out the theory of evolution has much more scientific backing than the word "theory" used in conspiracy theories or theories about what is causing sales to decline at a small business. The theory of evolution may not have the backing needed to be classified as a fact but it still has lots of backing behind it, certainly more than other ideas of how humans came to be.

There was a guy in my unit who thought Obama was our third black president. He said Abe Lincoln and MLK were the first two. The public education system fails people so horribly sometimes.
