Ahhhhh yes the magic book, the bible supposedly written 200 years after that fella, Jesus, walked the earth. And no, I don't trust the bible. A conglomerate of fairy tales depicting violence, lies, genocide, slavery, treatment of women ad nauseum.....the audacity to ask if one trusts the bible!

GySgt (Verify To See) - Jeezus H. Christ Gunny! Just tell me what a "true atheist is? Additionally, can you give me your view or perspective on what is faith and why you rely on it to believe in your invisible god?

Capt Gregory Prickett The issue here is that you and Luther simply disagree on what is and what isn't scripture. If it's not scripture, then it must be removed. That's what he did. Some agreed with him. Some didn't. Thats why we now have separate denominations and whatnot. Your argument that the original books should be left in simply because they were there first has zero bearing on whether or not they were inspired by God. Like I said before, anyone could have written something down. They could have even written the truth down. That doesn't make it inspired by God.

Capt Gregory Prickett - You're missing a huge distinction here. You've attempted to create a moral standard and then judge all humans as "good" or "bad" based on your own standard. You need some authority for this to make any sense. Without it, you're just blowing smoke.

Luther, on the other hand, simply disagreed with the church and showed them (and everyone) how he thought they were wrong. And he did so based on the authority of the scripture. Not his own.

You cited a verse about not changing the scripture. That's great. Why do you think books such as the Apocrypha were inspired books? Because they were in the Septuagint? Is that the standard? What about the Palestinian canon that didn't have those books? By the way, the Palestinian canon was used by the Jews in Israel.

So, what makes a book inspired by God?
