It all depends on the situation at the time, who, what, where, when, either with a firearm, knife or a Shindawa 450cc Bushcutter. I've seen them all, while on duty as a police officer, the method of the disarming or take down, depends on the officer/person, and what works at the time.
With that said, seconds is a factor, and alot of common sense, in what you are trying to do.

Good one, LTC Eugene Chu but I doubt that average citizen is not going to react and perform a gun disarming move quick enough, nor will He or She have the coordination to make the move... Just saying...

You have a good point. Video mentioned that it is sometimes a matter of reflex speed to determine if a gun disarm will work for average civilian. Distance from gun and level of attention for gun holder are also important.
