It does not. Most AWOL / UA personnel are junior enlisted on their first term who can’t adapt to military life. In the last few years, I am seeing NCOs and officers also leave without proper authorization.

Was he in a VARC program? This sounds like something substance abuse. Stolen card... Did he get wasted and robbed?
