Or denial of service (DOS) attacks. Blizzard Entertainment (Diablo I, II and III, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, World of Witchcraft, etc.) gets hit once in a while with DOS attacks but usually they get it sorted out quickly. I have not had any problems getting on their servers for D3 lately.
