I don't like the proposed division into three states. That yellow strip should extend north along the coast to include San Francisco and south along the coast to include San Diego - then the Dems could be as blue as they like and the rest of the state could be as it wanted (without interference from the liberal coastal strip. When I was posted at Camp Pendleton, I found that when one went east over the coastal mountain range, it was a whole different world and a whole different mentality - much more conservative than the coastal strip. I'm sure that the population that lives north and east of 'Frisco would appreciate it if that city was in a different state, too. It's a whole different world.

I don't see a divide. California will vote for dividing the state, if it's the right division. This plan leaves major metropolitan centers in each the the three new states, virtually ensuring that each will vote Democrats into office. Thus, California will end up with six Senators in Congress instead of two. I doubt if other states will acquiesce. In another plan, CA would be divided into seven states (Four Republican and three Democrat). The Democrats who now control CA would never go for that. At this point, only the three-state division is on the ballot and, as I said at the start, this one will likely pass in CA, but not be acceptable to the other states.

As I see it, there is only one fair way to decide the issue.

Maj John Bell - I'm sorry but I can not ever agree to a watching a pillow fight. Now if there are some strict standards in place then I'll buy a ticket.
Maybe we could look to Mexico for some suggestions.
