We were all shades of green, and what mattered most was loyalty to guys on your flanks to survive. All bleed red. Lots of tombs and names on walls. No race indicated. Tombstone says it all.

The military is a breading ground for diversity. Where else can you randomly be out into small groups with people from all different walks of life at any given moment and be expected to achieve a mission??? No where like the military that’s for sure.
Loved it when my Gunny during my first deployment said “Look to you left and right Devil Dogs! I don’t give a rats ass who you think you are... I’m telling you now that you’re all Devil Dogs and we fight together and we’re all family because that’s what families do fight for each other.”
For all that has gone wrong with diversity in the military there’s a lot of good that’s never covered.
