I support this just like I did with the repeal of DADT. Those who wish to serve, should be able if possible.
My questions are:
Which APFT/height weight standard and what quantifies someone testing under a certain gender?
Latrice facilities. Will there be facilities for those going through transition and upon completion they go to their identified/physical gender? I personally support gender neutral latrines. One stop for all.
I'm sure guidance will come forward. I just hope it will be non discriminatory and equal for all across the board.

SGM Billy Herrington These are all good questions and, I think, why they took so long past their origional deadline. Lots of tough questions to make a policy for. I am 100% for open transgender service, and I trust our leadership will address these issues and more . . . I mean there are probably some things we will have to learn and adjust fire for as we go. It will be bumpy, but if we are so inflexible that we cannot make this work, then how will we be able to be flexible when people's lives are on the line in combat.

MSG Dan Castaneda - only a fool would think its normal, but then neither being a soldier in the first place. We are talking about something that does not negatively affect a SMs ability to serve and deploy. I am speaking from personal experiance, we have one such soldier in my unit. So whats at stake here is your opinion versus the pentagon, all of medical science, and my own actual observations of a fully deployable and RL1 soldier who is transitioning in my own unit. These are awefully large hurdles you have to cross to try and prove that we shouldnt do this.

And you have yet to demonstrate the validity of your slippery slope fallacy. This is the same bull that people carried on about before every single bit of social progress the military has undergone. And guess what, none of the catastrophic predictions came true then and they wont now

SGT (Join to see) - I'm glad you've had the privilege of witnessing first hand their contribution. Our mission is a bit different and therefore do not think we can use them at this time.

If this means they will be held to the same standards and separated for not meeting them, that would be an improvement on the current situation and a good thing. Still waiting on the survey where they ask the troops their opinion, oh wait, no one gives a damn and they are not going to ask.
Each person is an individual, but equality means equality. If you can do your job and deploy that is great. If you cannot deploy or cannot do your job a minority status should not protect you as you hurt readiness.

SGT Laura Delgadillo - Have you ever tried to separate a TG Soldier, because currently that is withheld. Just like many TG Soldiers have been locked into their assignments and unable to PCS. If this allows things to normalize it is an improvement.

CPT Mark Gonzalez, I think the whole point is normalization. The protections were only temporary and meant to protect from reprisals before policy is set. As for trying to separate . . I don't have any experience with that (as my rank would suggest) but I was under the impression that they could still be separated for normal things . . not passing tape, PT, UCMJ, etc. if it could be proven with a paper trail, just like any other separating scenario.

The only reason a transgender soldier couldn't be separated was for being transgender. Any other rules still apply. Did you have a different experience? I've known of many soldiers that are transgender and pcs'd during this time of limbo

SGT Laura Delgadillo - Yes, I had an incredibly different experience. Unable to enforce basic standards due to an inability to maintain basic life skills. Equality goes both ways, good and bad. So I'm all for treating everyone equally and holding people accountable. Interesting times we live in.
