FDR was a real war president. He understood the threat posed by Japan and Germany in the 1930s. He was the puppet master and the world was his stage. He was forward thinking and had plans to be executed. We are fortunate he was our POTUS in that period of time. The pandemic proves Trump could not have navigated himself out of a paper bag.

The fact is. FDR perceived the threat by Germany and Japan. When the war started he pushed millions of tons of military ware, vehicles, and planes to Russia and England to keep them in the fight. When the US did enter war, FDR used and integrated the full might of the nation. He was a puppet master and the world was his stage.

How did Trump deal with the pandemic threat? He lied about it for weeks. Pathetic! PO1 Kevin Dougherty

It did not take a master tactician to see that handwriting on the wall. I will and did give him credit for starting to ramp up our war footing before we were officially in the war, though I suspect he was pretty effectively played by Churchill.

As far as Trump goes, he was taking action like closing down travel to and from China while Biden and others were accusing him of xenophobia, likewise for Europe. When Trump's team was advising everyone to stay home and social distance, Nancy and Coumo were encouraging people to gather for the Chinese New Year celebrations. All of Biden's masterful COVID recovery plan is what Trump has already initiated. The Dems cared so much for us, that now Nancy is OK with the aid package she rejected for months. Whatever ...

One big difference, regardless of who is the President, I will pray for him, because he will be my President.

He allowed Americans back into the country. That in itself was not robust planning nor was it comprehensive. Who cares about the xenophobia. Trump was the president and calling the shots. Trump was never the advocate for following CDC guidelines. He is proof of that. You are terribly mistaken if you perceive Trump did good job preparing the country for the pandemic. There is a significant amount of tasks that should have been accomplished but Trump and his administration were too stupid to execute them. His plan was to lie about it for weeks. That was absolutely the worst course of action and he did that.PO1 Kevin Dougherty

And how was he supposed to keep them out. I can hear the civil rights people and assorted liberals screaming for his impeachment had he tried. And what else could have been done? Declare martial law and shoot anyone venturing outside without proper papers?

Thank you my friend PO1 William "Chip" Nagel for posting the letter that president FDR sent to Emperor of Japan Hirohito the day before the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor. By that point it no doubt fell on deaf ears since the attack had been planned and was on the way to be executed with listening silence activated, no doubt.
