I'm a retired USAF officer, and recommend that any AF member who intends to carry a weapon either concealed or ope, check thoroughly the state's gun carry laws. On base you will be subject to UCMJ and AF policy. Once you walk into the civilian community, the state laws apply and they vary significantly between states. The class to obtain a concealed carry permit in TX was very educational as far as what the consequences of pulling and using a weapon will be. I recommend you give preference to the applicable state laws and policies

Agreed. It's always wise to check with local firearm laws - especially in odds and ends locations like Guam where I'm stationed where the local government has its own set of regulations on firearm calibers alone.
