If you can't handle a student taping you, you probably don't need to be a teacher. I recorded many of my instructors because I wan't a very fast note taker. I would go back and listen to the lecture again and again until I got the notes I needed. Never taped one in the office though on an office call and probably wouldn't without notifying first...but they shouldn't be saying anything to a student that shouldn't be recorded anyway...IMHO.
