Please allow me to share my understanding of the nation wide clinical research that is focused on Gulf War Illness (GWI). How can I both benefit and participate in the effort? The above hyperlink brings me gratitude that there is a group of researchers working daily to help me discover Quality of Life (QoL). But, I feel that 30-years is too long a time to not understand more about the environment wounds from battlefield exposure. I’m impressed about the science that identifies PB (little white pills) and pesticides as a contributing factor to GWI. I want to learn more about what is meant by “irreversible” effect of taking PB as outlined in the document!? I feel that I can best live with GWI by asking my Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) for help with establishing QoL. I have found that printing the research document and sharing it with my PACT best serves as a responsible way to communicate my post deployment health issues. I’m frustrated that my PACT & Specialty Care teams do not know more about the GWI research available? I have discovered that self education and advocacy is beneficial to getting questions answered. I hope that sharing what I’ve learned may help other Veterans of the Persian Gulf War. Should you be interested in learning more about the ongoing GWI Clinical Research:
