LTC Stephen C. thanks for the good luck and you are right. I am on a mission but not the one most people assume by posting those articles. On this particular topic it is very one sided in here and understandably so. I get that many on gear are avid gun owners or avidly support the 2nd Amendment. I have no issue with either to be honest. The issue I have is that we have a much higher rate of murder by firearm than most of the other 1st world nations and we seem to be stuck in this idea that we would rather not have any gun control and continue to have tens of thousands of our fellow citizens killed than implement tighter controls on who can get guns. Yet paradoxical we are more than willing to give up other rights because terrorism without blinking an eye. We also as a culture have been able to change many times to include treating people fairly from the civil rights and women’s sufferage movements, to deglorying smoking and drinking especially while driving, yet we turn a blind eye and fight tooth and nail to protect every type of gun and stop the imposing of any type of control that might actually save lives.
With that in mind I posted the posts to hopefully get people to even for a second read and see what other countries which had similar issues have done and to show that the fears most people have here about gun control if done correctly do save lives while still allowing for gun ownership and usage.
I would be open to anyone suggesting an alternative to the current gun control models but all is see is go with what have been doing for the last several decades which isn’t working.
It’s a losing battle here I know but one that this needs to be fought.
Anyway, thanks again and have a good day.

So Steve - regarding the Commander's Mission: OI would ask him why I should acquiesce to women having a right to CHOOSE to terminate the life of their infants; while surrendering my RIGHT TO CHOOSE to own a Firearm. It is a clear and immutable fact that more humans are killed via Abortion than gun violence in this country. It is also a FACT that the Left’s philosophy regarding guns and abortion is predicated upon a GLARING contradiction. Specifically, the Left CONVENIENTLY subscribes to an “...originalist...” argument about the Constitution when it comes to the Second Amendment. The Left stridently proclaims that one must be a member of the militia to have an individual right to bear arms. Contrast these arguments with the Left’s stance on abortion rights. These rights stem from an INTERPRETATION of the Fourth Amendment that specifies a general right to privacy against unreasonable searches and seizures without a warrant issued by a judge based on probable cause. Justice Douglas, in HIS OPINION for the Supreme Court, wrote one of the most famous phrases in American jurisprudence: “...The foregoing cases suggest that specific guarantees in the Bill of Rights have penumbras [the partially shaded outer region of the shadow cast by an opaque object], formed by emanations [an abstract but perceptible thing that issues or originates from a source] from those guarantees that help give them life and substance. Various guarantees create zones of privacy...”. Said another way the "...right ..." to terminate a life via Abortion was CREATED by JUDICIAL FIAT. This type of judicial activism is referred to as a “living and breathing” interpretation of the Constitution; which allows for CREATION of a Constitutional right not previously stipulated nor accorded to within the original framework of the Constitution. It is obvious then that the HYPOCRISY of the left is evident it is willingness to support a right to CHOOSE to terminate a life via abortion. A RIGHT that was created by JUDICIAL FIAT. These same individuals also conveniently ignores a CITIZENS RIGHT TO OWN A FIREARM. A CHOICE AND A RIGHT SPECIFIED in the Second Amendment.

I have no issue with gun control.....two hands or one. I hit the target every time. Seriously. we don't need more GUN Control. Only the Liberals keep crying for it. I don't see anyone looking to ban hammers, knives, tire irons, cars, back packs or pressure cookers....they kill more people than guns do.

OH, where do I start.....
First the article is so much BS that it was a waste of paper to print it.
Second the author is an idiot.
Gun control has not failed, two hands, firm grip(not overly firm), on target all in the black.
What has failed are gun laws. There are hundreds if not thousands of gun laws on the records, a lot are just repeats of existing laws. Gun laws do not work. They are there to keep good people from owning guns. The biggest gun law joke is felons cannot buy firearms. I do not know or have never heard of a felon walking into a gun store to purchase a firearm. If a criminal wants a gun he is going to get one, no matter what the law says.
Until those morons serving in Congress realize those guns laws they insist on passing don't work, we will continue to have the problems we have. Assault rifle bans, magazine capacity, etc all BS.
I don't even know why we even have gun laws. The 2nd Amendment doesn't give us the right to own firearms, it guarantees that nobody can take away our God given right. Of course, let someone come try and take our guns, I'm not going to be thinking about the 2nd Amendment.
If you want to end gun violence, put more guns in the hands of good people. Teach them gun safety, how to shoot and when to shoot. Train teachers, give them CCW's, school shootings may not stop completely but i believe a lot less kids will be shot. The biggest attraction for a shooter is a big "GUN FREE ZONE" sign.
The more good people that have guns the fewer bad people will be a little more hesitant about using theirs. We hear about good people stopping bad people every day.
Okay, I'll get off my soapbox now.
