A "pentagon insider" explains. That could be the janitor or the Chief of Naval Operations. Is it possible that Mattis understands his charge and his boss and is simply executing his responsibilities to the best of his ability like he has done his entire career? The level of success we have had in dealing with ISIS and AQ and aligning some of our allies in the GWOT is unprecedented. Candidly, this article is much ado about nothing. Mattis is a Marine who knows his role, understands the chain of command, follows it, keeps his comments to himself and slays bad guys. Washington DC is not used to that sort of person.

And here is the old anonymous source. When you read the headline, then read the article, it’s merely click bait. When there is an actual interview with Mattis, post it. This appears to be another Big Bad Wolff story. If there is anyone in the cabinet that doesn’t hold back it’s Mattis, closely followed by COS Kelly.

You're not going to see an actual interview with Mattis while he's SECDEF.
