That is one of the reasons we have Gunny's. Speeches like that have to be given and who better than someone you call Gunny to deliver it.

A Gunny was our instructor for A school. I can't tell you how much that guy rode my ass (all of our asses), but I can tell you that by the end of it, I'd've followed him to hell. Just don't tell other Jarheads. They all need ego adjustments.

We have a Marine Gunny in every Battalion assigned for 3 years at a time 0311 or Force type that was before they went to MARSOC. My last Battalion was a good friend and survival expert, he was a Marine sniper joined our Battalion just before we deployed to Afghanistan. He was an outstanding motivator, we highest range qualification rates during his time. I retired with him grate guy. I also remember Gunny Blu, My first Battalion Gunny NMCB 74, that guy was a Bad ass, Marine Force guy hard charger and he was our Military adviser or Cadre for Shield and Strom. This is reason Seabees have that Marine type mentality is Marine Cadre and we are set up just like a grunt Battalion. Company's, Platoons Squads and Firer Teams. We are set up like that so when we attach during combat and other special type contingency mission we can mix in with them best we can. Love Marine Gunny's like you said grate motivators, I remember the four I Served with in Battalions, and ASF cadre that trained base ASF in Greece, back when they did that, they don't use Marines any more to train ASF, big mistake.
