Trump's lawyers are loving this, the bill just gets bigger and bigger. He probably will pay more to his lawyers than this measly $5 mil.
Or he will just stiff them also.

He'll likely stiff them and appeal until he can't, pay minimally until he is gone

It's not a criminal case - it's a civil case. I'm not sure why people are still confused on this. Criminally, he's never been charged for SA or rape. CIVILLY he was held liable with this case - and on appeal that verdict was upheld.
For those who think that a SA could never happen in a store dressing room - ha. You'd be surprised the places women get sexually assaulted. I got sexually assaulted (groped) IN MY OFFICE in our TOC in Iraq on my second deployment. In uniform. I worked night shift in S2. Someone I thought was my friend, in one of the line companies, had to do fingerprints for his clearance. He said he'd come by after he got off mission and I said ok. Dude is groping me while I'm trying to do my job and I said "If you don't stop I'll yell for the S3 guys to come in here" who were literally on the other side of the wall. He laughed it off "I'm just joking around." I didn't find it funny. AT ALL. I told one of my S3 friends, who did go confront him because I got a message on Yahoo messenger (this was in 08, 09). I shouldn't have been mad at my friend but being a minority in a combat en bn (females were the minority) it's hard and none of us wanted to have that attention. But I am glad that guy went big brother on him.
Either way - when a sexual predator wants to abuse someone, he or she will find a way.
Also let's add in the women soldiers who have been MURDERED on Army bases. Vanessa Guillen was murdered in her unit armsroom and NO ONE knew.
Sarah Roque was murdered at Ft Leonardwood not long ago and her body dumped in a barracks dumpster.
Denisha Montgomery - repeatedly assaulted by fellow soldiers and "dissuaded by her first sergeant from filing an official report. Two weeks later, she was found dead in her barracks." Army ruled it a suicide but the investigation was ongoing at the time - and her family doesn't believe it. There have been a lot of female soldiers who died under suspicious circumstances and the Army rules it "suicide" meanwhile they had been sexually assaulted, harassed or assaulted before their deaths.
So stop pretending like there's no way for predators to get victims in places that are public. It happens all - the - time.
