The people were just tired of the backwards government. Obiden was just a pawn to dictate all the negativity of the left. A freak show of an administration following the obama world of abnormal, un-American, change of times. Thank you DJT.

The elites in the dem party did get a good lesson. Never did understand how the rich in the dems ever gave a damn for the little guy.

I'm sure there was some tearing out their hair. I doubt if my democrat dad would have voted that way if he was alive. Maybe cooler heads will take over the party.

Some VP candidates are selected for their ability to bring their home state to vote for the party.
Some VP candidates are selected to "balance the ticket" when the presidential candidate is seen as too far left or too far right.
Some VP candidates are selected to groom them for later election as president.
NONE of those apply to Biden's choice of Kamala Harris.
Biden and his team were shrewd. Even before being elected Biden knew that his age and health would be a factor throughout his presidency. Biden was the only seriously electable Democrat coming into the 2020 race, but even before the election there were Democrats talking quietly about Biden winning the election, taking office, then resigning... and about the possibility of using the 25th Amendment if Biden wouldn't resign when he would be told. Harris was Biden's insurance policy. He and his team selected the least competent and least likeable running mate knowing that having Harris as VP would discourage Republicans from impeaching him and discourage Democrats from using the 25th Amendment against him.
Democrats had never planned for Biden to serve a full term, much less become a two-term president, but the entire party failed to position anyone else as a serious challenger so they came into 2024 knowing that Biden was their only hope to beat Trump. But when Biden's complete mental collapse was displayed nationwide in the first debate, they found themselves in an untenable position. They needed a new candidate. No one inside the Democratic Party was seriously considering Harris for the top spot on the ticket, but she made it clear that she would not accept the #2 slot again and that she would burn down the entire party if she wasn't the replacement for Biden.
Democrats cranked up the liberal media machine to try to take Harris from being the least popular VP in history to being a serious candidate for the presidency. They were assisted greatly by the Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v Wade because that gave them the only issue where Harris had any advantage with voters. The entire Harris campaign consisted of only two points:
1) I support abortions, and 2) I'm not Trump.
Trump had never shown any interest in the abortion issue, but ran as "Pro-Life" in 2024. Trump had been "I support the 2nd Amendment, but..." but ran as pro-2A in 2024. Both these positions were to shore up support among some core GOP supporters but neither really mattered because those supporters certainly weren't going to Harris. Trump hammered Harris on the Open Border issue. But the central theme of the Trump campaign that actually beat Harris was the one simple question asked at every Trump rally: "Are YOU better off than you were four years ago?"
