They will hide behind the policy, but yes, it was politically motivated, and the scary thing is, it almost worked. I will stand by my issues with President Trump, but I have to give him all my respect and thanks for sticking to his guns on these bogus indictments. Their success would have only led to far more examples of it.

They will still hide behind the fact they wanted to continue but the policy prevents them from doing so. It served their purpose, even though it ultimately failed, and they will continue to point to it as it will never be definitively concluded. Trump supporters will say it was bogus to begin with, non-supporters will say these still exists and were not concluded (and as a result he is guilty in their eyes)... Personally, I'd prefer these get resolved so that we can truly move on. There are two ways to do this. A judge rules these are bogus or the President (Biden I assume) puts an end to it.
