When I was first introduced to this...my thoughts were
"WTH is the woman talking about?"
Now it's almost 17+ years later; I fully understand. I had observed, through my journal entries, that I was trying everything and trying to stretch myself thin between helping individuals/new hobbies/new endeavors/social media/dating, as well as being an over worked manager, and single mother to my autistic daughter.
You HAVE to take the time for "Self Care" and "Mindfulness" everyday in caring and treasuring your person. It is a different process with each person as well as being a HUGE leap in your personal/emotional/mental growths. I found that my personal time of mindfulness is first thing in the morning; instead of running around like a chicken with its head cut off; I take about 3 hours in the morning now. A couple of cups of coffee, watching the sun rise, music playing softly in the background, sitting on the front porch just listening to birds singing, chipmunks, squirrels, rabbits, sometimes a few deer...listening to people rush by to their 7/8/9 o'clock jobs. I do not envy them anymore...the day to day stress of my feet hitting the ground running, getting myself & my daughter ready, fighting traffic, dropping her off at the sitters, then rushing to work at speeds worthy of Mario Andrade in any race. Then having to contend with "Fires" to put out, dealing with minor coworker problems (not to mention the migraine worthy ones), high maintenance customers, placing orders, pulling material for landscaping jobs, meetings, consultations, etc, etc, etc..then the reverse happening in the evening at 5:30-7 depending on how hectic the workday was...
Take it few extra minutes in the morning to care for yourself, take extra time savoring your coffee, watching the sun rise..any little thing that brings you
"A Little dose of Pleasure/Smiles"
You will be surprised those few moments can improve your overall day to day interactions/mood/emotions.
