After the University of Missouri changed the name of the "Welcome Black BBQ," and dissolved a department, student organizations are expressing concern about what this could mean Mizzou efforts geared toward marginalized communities. How is "Welcome Black BBQ," inclusive? It is just the opposite, exclusive. When you host inclusive events you are not meeting the intent of the DEI programs. When you intentionally exclude others that does not meet the intent of the DEI. If your program is doing that then it needs to be dissolved and either disbanded or the people in it need to be retrained. It seems this school is allowing inclusiveness under the umbrella of DEI and that is wrong.
