This is 'window dressing' at its finest. Military has jobs and changes them to meet their needs, not the needs of someone who may separate. Unless the military requires a license from a state or federal agency, the skills do not transfer well. To practice as an RN I must have a state license and that transferred but again most military jobs have SM doing what the military needs and for enlisted, that often entails in peacetime motor pool duty, PMCS, and installation beautification. Simple fact of the matter, the military has been bragging for decades how great the training is and they have grossly over rated themselves.

I haven't kept track, has the Government who says you can not discriminate due to age changed their own age requirements?
When I retired the FAA couldn't hire me as an Air Traffic Controller, even though I held FAA Certifications because I was too old at the time (44). Supposedly I could not apply to the FBI, ATF, and several other agencies for the same reason.

I thought about doing law enforcement in San Antonio, nope to old. People like to talk about how great vets are while at the same time not writing policy to encourage us in the work force. I thought about law enforcement at a young age and I can tell you 21yo old me did not belong patrolling with a firearm and army nurse retired is to old even though much more mature. I for one would love to have you in a tower as it is pretty common place at locations with flight schools the controllers seem to be carte blanche to be as(*&holes to everyone.

Ya' I went the other route. Got out ASAP and joined the Army Reserves Special Scout Platoon and put some of my former ASA talent to good use. You won't believe some of the cross-agency cooperation that was happening in the 70's....
