In the dogs and cats being eaten the larger picture is missed. I remember when some illegal aliens were sent to Martha’s Vineyard. Martha’s Vineyard is one of the wealthiest communities in America and the good people did not have facilities to take care of a dozen or so migrants. What does a small community long Springfield Ohio , population 60,000, do when 20,000 people are dropped on their door step? Send them to a military instillation like Martha’s Vineyard? We’re the people given an option? Yes Haitians eat cats. Yes Haitians sacrifice animals in their religious festivals and services. No their culture is not the same as ours. Perhaps Martha’s Vineyard should increase THIER strength by adding diversity.

To be clear, people were not dropped on their doorstep as an organized action. Refugees mostly came there on their own because of the meat packing type jobs that required no education.
To your other question does it cause problems when there is a large influx of people suddenly to a community. These are the same type of problems we see with the oil workers in say the North Dakota oils fields. The solution is rarely to send them away. Over time the communities adjust to absorb them. The problems of a large increase of population in a short period of time are real and not specific to refugees and we are certainly not the only country in the world who has had to deal with a refugee crisis.
I'm not saying the problem isn't happening and also the racism around it, certainly is happening as well. The "foreigners are eating animals they shouldn't" claim is a racism meme with about a 150 year history in the US.

I believe food processing is a more accurate term for the jobs in Springfield, OH, not meat packaging as I used.
